Rushden Echo, 8th December 1922, transcribed by Kay Collins
Mrs Annie Higgins

Obituary—The death took place on Tuesday, at 1 Harborough-road, Rushden, the residence of Mr and Mrs C E Bayes, of Mrs Annie Higgins, aged 79, mother of Mrs Bayes. Mrs Higgins, widow of the late Mr Stephen Higgins, who died three years ago, had kept to her bed only a week before her death, which resulted from heart failure. Deceased was a native of Braceborough, Lincs, and had lived at Wellingborough for some years until 35 years ago, when she and her husband removed to Rushden. They were members for some time of the Congregational Church, but after taking a house in Bedford-road they were unable to attend. The only children living are Mrs C E Bayes and Mrs T A Knight, of Toronto, Canada. There are eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also left. The funeral took place this (Friday) afternoon, conducted by the Rev J A Sutherland, pastor of the Park-road Baptist Church. A service was held at 1 Harborough-road, and only male mourners attended the committal service at the cemetery, to respect a wish expressed some years ago by the deceased.
