Rushden Echo, 7th June 1918
Mr. Frederick Harris

OBITUARY – The death took place on Friday last, at 114, Wellingborough-road, Rushden, of Mr. Frederick Harris, at the age of 69 years.  The deceased gentleman for some years past had been in poor health, but it was not until about five weeks ago that he became seriously ill, and it was deemed necessary to summon his soldier sons to his bedside.  A native of Northampton, he came to Rushden twenty years ago, and made a wide circle of friends and acquaintances throughout the town.  By religious persuasion he was a strict Churchman, and regularly attended the services at St. Peter’s.  He leaves a widow, two sons, three daughters and two step-daughters to mourn their loss.  The deceased was buried on Tuesday in the family grave at Billing-road cemetery, Northampton, the first portion of the obsequies being conducted at St. Edmund’s Church by the Vicar (Rev. E. Hopkins), assisted by the Curate.  The coffin, of polished elm, with brass fittings, bore the inscription :-

The mourners comprised Mrs. F. Harris (widow), and Gnr. W. F. Harris, R.G.A. (son), Miss Harris (daughter) and S.S. F. D. Harris, A.V.C. (son), the Misses Dorothy and Daisy Harris (daughters), Mrs. F. Mayes (step-daughter) and Mrs. W. Harris (daughter-in-law), Mrs. F. Harris (daughter-in-law) and Mr. G. Simmonds (friend).  Mr. T.
