Mrs E Harris

The funeral took place at Rushden on Monday of Mrs Elizabeth Harris, wife of Mr George Harris, of 40, Oval-road, Rushden, who died on her 64th birthday, having been confined to her bed since shortly after Christmas.

A native of Shelton, Bedfordshire, Mrs Harris was the youngest daughter of Mr Charles Neal, farm bailiff in that village, and came to Rushden about 45 years ago. Of a very retiring nature, she was well-respected by those who knew her.

The funeral service was conducted by the Rev R H Conway, curate of St Mary’s Church, Rushden, and the mourners were: Mrs E Beacham, Mr G F Harris, Mrs G Roast, Mr Frank Harris, Mrs A Thomas, Mr Roland P Harris (daughters and sons), Mr and Mrs C Neal, Mr and Mrs Ernest Neal (brothers and sisters-in-law), Mrs F Taylor (niece), Mr E Beacham, Mrs F Harris and Mr A Thomas (daughter-in-law and sons-in-law), Miss M Nephin, Miss R Miller, Mrs E Norman and Mrs Hollis (friends).

Mr George Harris, husband, did not attend the funeral, owing to illness.

There were many floral tributes, including wreaths from friends and neighbours.
