The death took place at her residence, 26, Station road, Rushden, on Thursday week, of Mrs Rosa Emily Groome, wife of Mr Arthur Groome, an employee of Messrs John Cave and Sons, Rushden.

Mrs Groome, who was in her sixtieth year, had been ill for several years, but was in the garden, chatting to her neighbours, the day before her fatal collapse. The husband, a daughter, Mrs S Hitchins, who lived with her, and her father, Mr Robert Darlow, of Birmingham, who is in his ninetieth year, are left to mourn her passing. She was born at Raunds, but had lived practically all her life in Rushden, where she was well known.

The funeral took place quietly at St Peter’s Church, Rushden, on Monday, the Vicar (the Rev P Barwell Spriggs) officiating.

The family mourners were Mr Arthur Groome (husband, Mr and Mrs S Hitchins (son-in-law and daughter), Mr Robert Darlow (adopted son) and Mrs Darlow, Mrs Stanbley and Mrs S Bates, Birmingham (sisters), and Miss Joan Hitchins (granddaughter).

Messrs T Swindall and Sons made the funeral arrangements.
