Rushden Echo, 7th June 1901
Mrs. A. O. Groome

Death of Mrs. A. O. Groome—It is our melancholy duty to record the death, which took place on Tuesday, of Mrs. Groome, wife of Mr. Albert Owen Groome, a member of the firm of Messrs. Abraham Groome and Sons, boot and shoe manufacturers, of Higham-road, Rushden, and the chief officer of the Higham Ferrers corps of the St. John Ambulance Brigade. The deceased lady, who was only 24 years of age, was the daughter of Mr. Thos. Knighton, of East Cowes, Isle of Wight, and she was married to Mr. Groome on June 6th last year, so that she passed away one day before the first anniversary of her wedding day. Nearly a month ago she gave birth to a daughter, and a few days afterwards rapid consumption set in, the end coming very quickly. Throughout the district the greatest sympathy is felt for Mr. Groome in the sad bereavement which has befallen him.

The funeral took place at noon today.
