THE FUNERAL of Mrs. Maud Ellen Green, who passed away last Tuesday week at “Ashleigh,” Kings-road, as reported in our last issue, took place on Saturday at the cemetery, in the presence of many sympathisers. The first portion of the obsequies was conducted at “Ashleigh” by the Rev. R. C. Law, A.T.S., who also officiated at the graveside. The coffin, which was of polished elm with brass fittings, bore the inscription:-
MAUD ELLEN GREEN
Died July 2nd, 1918.
Aged 37 years.
The mourners comprised: Mr. F. W. Green (husband) and Miss Bessie Partridge (sister), Mr. E. Partridge (uncle) and Mrs. J. Partridge (sister-in-law), Mr. C. A. K. Green and Mrs. B. Coe (brother-in-law and sister-in-law), Mrs. G. Willmott and Miss Hillson (aunts), Mr. B. Coe (brother-in-law) and Miss Ada Green (sister-in-law) and Mrs. Parsons (friend). A number of beautiful wreaths were placed on the grave, including one from the staff of Messrs. William Green and Sons, boot manufacturers, where the deceased’s husband is employed.
