Mrs. Emma Furniss

A Rushden widow, Mrs. Emma Furniss, aged 79, was laid to rest on Saturday afternoon after the Rev. E. A. Green (Rector) had conducted the funeral service at St. Mary’s Church.

Mrs. Furniss formerly attended St. Mary’s but had not been able to lead a very active life in recent years. Her husband died 13 years ago, and a daughter and son are left.

The chief mourners were Mr. and Mrs. L. Maddams (son-in-law and daughter), Mrs. E. M. Griffith (niece), Miss F. Bates, Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Spavins, Souldrop, Mrs. K. Clark (niece), Mrs. M. Skett, Mrs. M. Furrelly and Mrs. F. Maddams.

The many wreaths included a number from the family inscribed :-

In loving memory of dear Mother, from Mabel, Albert and Len – In God’s keeping; With loving remembrance, from Mr. and Mrs. P. Spavins, Souldrop; With loving remembrance, from Mrs. F. Maddams and family; From nieces, 22 Albion-place.

Messrs. Whittington and Tomlin made the funeral arrangement.
