One of Rushden’s oldest inhabitants, Mrs. Eliza Rose Farrar, died on Wednesday morning at the age of 91 years. She had been ill for only a fortnight, and her eldest son, Mr. B. Farrar, had lived with her for that time at 58 Crabb-street, her home for 30 years.
Mrs. Farrar was born at Riseley, Beds., and came to Rushden 66 years ago. She always held the greatest interest in nursing and just over 40 years ago gained her first certificate in the St John Ambulance Brigade, of which she still remained a member.
Her husband died ten years ago. There were seven children, of whom six survivefour daughters and two sons. One son is in Canada, and a daughter in America. In addition there are 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Six of the grandsons are in the Forces. Her latest descendant, who made her a great-great-grandmother, was born in Detroit, U.S.A., last August.
The funeral will take place on Saturday at 2.30p.m.
