From the Operatic Society Programme 1960

Since our last Production the Society has suffered a grievous loss in the death of our Senior Vice-President, Leonard Valentine Elliott, on June 21st, 1960, after a short illness. The late Mr. Elliott was one of the Founders of our Society and he was Chairman for a number of years. Throughout his long association with the Society Mr. Elliott never spared himself in its interest. In addition to his work as Chairman, he was also the Publicity Representative and he rendered great service in both capacities. We shall indeed miss his cheerful presence and valuable help.
