Rushden Echo, 13th October 1916, transcribed by Gill Hollis
The death of Mr. F. R. Eady

We regret to record the death of Mr. Frederick Robert Eady, which occurred at 141, Wellingborough-road, Rushden, on Monday.  The deceased gentleman, who was 61 years of age, was well known and highly respected in boot manufacturing circles, having been head clerk for Messrs. Jas. Hyde, Ltd., for a great many years.  His illness was a comparatively brief one, but for some time past he had suffered much pain, although he continued at business until about five weeks ago.  Since he was obliged to discontinue business he had been compelled to take to his bed at various times, although time and again he appeared to rally and would get up.  Last Friday, however, he had a bad relapse and was again compelled to take to his bed, and gradually became weaker, passing peacefully away on Monday at 8.30 a.m.  He leaves a widow and one daughter to mourn their loss.  The late Mr. Eady was a native of Chelveston, and came to reside in Rushden about 28 years ago.  He was a consistent Churchman and regularly attended St. Peter’s church, and in politics he was a strong Conservative, being a member of the Rushden Conservative Club for many years.  On Monday the flag at the club was flying at half-mast as a tribute of respect to the memory of the deceased.  The funeral took place on Wednesday at the cemetery, the first portion of the obsequies being conducted in St. Peter’s Church by the Rev. P. J. Richards, who also officiated at the graveside.  The coffin was of polished elm with brass fittings, and bore the inscription:

FREDK. ROBERT EADY,
Died October 9th, 1916,
Aged 61 Years.

The funeral arrangements were carried out by Mr. A. Sanders.
