At Essex road, Rushden, June 10, Damaris Desborough, 69 years.

OBITUARY A native of Podington and well known and much respected in Rushden and district, Mrs Damaris Desborough, aged 69, widow of the late Mrs David Desborough, passed away early on Monday morning at the residence of her son-in-law and daughter (Mr and Mrs R C Timpson, 24 Essex road, Rushden). Mr and Mrs Desborough had lived in Rushden about 45 years, Mr Desborough passing away about five months ago. Just before that Mrs Desborough was taken ill with heart disease and dropsy, and had received constant attention up to the time of her death. There are to mourn their loss one daughter, three sons and 15 grandchildren. The funeral took place on Tuesday conducted by the Rev. C J Keeler (Mrs Desborough having been a member of the High Street Independent Wesleyan church). The mourners were Mr and Mrs R C Timpson (son-in-law and daughter), Mr and Mrs W Bates, Mr and Mrs G Bates, Mr and Mrs F Bates (sons and daughters-in-law); Miss Frances Timpson, Miss Florrie Bates (granddaughters), Mrs Pope (step-daughter), Mrs Hullat, Mrs Brown, Mrs Green, Mrs Howe (sisters), Mrs Payne (sister-in-law).

The funeral arrangements were carried out by Messrs. Whittington and Tomlin. Wreaths placed on the grave bore the following inscriptions: To dear mother with love from Flo, Con and grandchildren. To our darling mother, from Will, Nell and granddaughter, Florrie. In ever loving memory of dear mother from George, Louie and children. There is a link death cannot sever, Love and remembrance for ever. In loving remembrance from Dick, Lil and children Though lost from sight, to memory ever dear. To a dear mother, from Nell and Sid Peace, perfect peace. In loving memory from her sister After pain comes rest. In loving remembrance, from Mrs Payne and Gladys.
