The death took place at 18, Grove-street, on Wednesday, at the age of 64 years, of Mr. Walter Denton, a native of Rushden, and well known and highly respected throughout the town. The deceased was able to continue at his work at Messrs. Denton & Son’s until about seven weeks ago, but illness then compelled him to remain at home, and gradually becoming worse he passed peacefully away on Wednesday. He bore his illness with remarkable patience and fortitude. He leaves a widow, three sons, and four daughters. All three sons are in the Army, one Pte. Horace Denton, of the Northants Regiment, being a prisoner of war. Of the other two sons, Pte. T. P. Denton, of the Leicester Regiment, is in Mesopotamia, and Pte. W. E. Denton, of the R.A.M.C., who was wounded about 14 months ago, is now orderly in King George’s Hospital, London. One other son, the late Pte. Dennis Denton (Northants Regiment) was killed in action in August, 1915. Much sympathy is felt with the widow and family in their bereavement. The funeral will take place to-morrow at the cemetery at 2.45 p.m.

The funeral of the late Mr. Walter Denton (of 18 Grove-street, Rushden), whose death was reported in our last issue, took place on Saturday afternoon at the cemetery, in the presence of many sympathisers. The Rev. C. J. Keeler officiated. The coffin of polished elm, with brass fittings, bore the inscription:-
WALTER DENTON
Died December 12th, 1917
Aged 64 years.
The mourners were as follow: Mrs. W. Denton (widow) and Pte. W. Denton (son), Mrs. F. Cave and Miss Alice Denton (daughters), the Misses Elsie and Millie Denton (daughters), Master Walter Cave and Miss Dora Denton (grandchildren), Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Denton, senr. (brother-in-law and sister), Mr. F. Cave (son-in-law), Mrs. Horace Denton (daughter-in-law) and Mr. Bert Ette (nephew). Mrs. Ernest Denton (daughter-in-law) was unavoidably absent. A number of beautiful floral tributes were placed on the grave. Mrs. W. Denton and family desire to express sincere thanks for the many expressions of sympathy they have received in their sore bereavement.
