Death of Mrs Darnell
Rushden Family Bereaved

A B.W.T.A. Worker


The death took place on Tuesday at 80, Harborough-road, Rushden, of a well known and highly respected native of Rushden, in the person of Mrs. Emma Darnell, wife of Mr. Wm. Henry Darnell, at the age of 58 years. The deceased lady had been a great sufferer for many years from an internal complaint, and for 18 weeks prior to her death had been compelled to keep to her bed. For a number of years she had been a member of the Mothers’ Meeting in connection with the Rushden branch of the B.W.T.A., and took a keen interest in the work of the Association. She leaves a husband, four sons, and five daughters.

The funeral took place this (Friday) afternoon in the cemetery in the presence of many sympathisers, the Rev. H. J. Horn officiating. The coffin was of polished elm with brass fittings and bore the inscription:-

EMMA DARNELL
Died July 4th 1916
Aged 58 years.

The mourners comprised:- Mr. W. H. Darnell (husband) and Miss Lily Darnell (daughter), Mr. Frank Darnell (son) and Miss Evelyn Darnell (daughter), Mr. Fred Darnell (son) and Miss Minnie Darnell (daughter), Mr. Wm. Darnell (son) and Miss Mabel Darnell (daughter), Mr. Horace Darnell (son) and Mrs. Frank Darnell (daughter-in-law), Mr. Herbert Brooks (son-in-law) and Mrs. Fred Darnell (daughter-in-law), Mr. Jos. Warren (brother) and Mrs. T. Lack (sister), Mr. Jerman Warren (brother) and Mrs. J. Bailey (sister), Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Darnell (brother-in-law and sister-in-law), Mesdames Litchfield, Fletton and Collins (nieces), Masters Fred, Horace and Arthur Darnell and Miss Elsie Darnell (grandchildren).

The B.W.T.A. were represented at the graveside. A number of beautiful floral tributes to the memory of deceased were placed on the grave. Mr Sanders was the undertaker.

Mr. Darnell and family desire to express sincere thanks to the many friends who have sent expressions of sympathy with them in their bereavement.
