Northampton Mercury, June 6th 1863, transcribed by Susan Manton

Joseph Curtis

Rushden – Joseph Curtis, an old-established wheelwright, of this village, was at work on Friday, the 15th ultimo, in his shop, with his son, until four o’clock in the afternoon and after taking tea, the son left the father in the house by himself, and returned in a few minutes, when he found the old man on the floor in a fit. He was taken to bed and he lived till Wednesday night, at nine o’clock long enough to complete his 98th year.

He has left behind him two sons and one daughter, and several grandchildren, besides great grandchildren.
