'Rolando' postcard In business for several years as the popular proprietor of Northants Cafes, Ltd., Rushden, Mr. Roland (Rollie) Cox, of 150, Higham-road, Rushden, died on Saturday at the age of 53. Mr. Cox was a native of Higham Ferrers and became a keen worker for the local charities, in particular the Northampton General Hospital. For a good many years he was popular on local platforms as a light comedian, known as “Rolando.” In the last war he served in the R.G.A. and was responsible for organising a number of concerts for the troops. He had been in poor health for some time, but the end was rather unexpected. A widow, three sons and two daughters survive.

27th February, 1942 Funeral of Mr. R. Cox The Funeral of Mr. Roland Cox, of 150, Higham-road, Rushden, a well-known café proprietor, took place on Wednesday, February 18th, the service at the Higham Ferrers Parish Church, conducted by the Vicar, the Rev. Philip Kirk, being followed by the cremation at Kettering. The ashes were then brought back to Higham to be interred in the cemetery. The principal mourners were Mrs. L. Cox and Mr. Joe Cox (widow and son), Mrs. A. Kirk and Mr. Dick Cox (daughter and son), Master Brian Cox and Mrs. A. Colton (son and sister), Mrs. I. Leanard (sister), Mr. and Mrs. H. Cox (brother and sister-in-law), Mr. and Mrs. A. Neville (brother-in-law and sister-in-law), Mr. and Mrs. T. Neville (brother-in-law and sister-in-law), Mr. and Mrs. H. Neville (brother-in-law and sister-in-law), Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Howes (brother-in-law and sister-in-law). The R.A.O.B. was represented. Mrs. L. Batchelor (aunt) and Mr. Walter Cox (brother) were unable to attend owing to indisposition.
