Rushden Echo and Argus, Friday 4th May 1934, Transcribed by Susan Manton
Mr. Thomas Clark of Rushden

The funeral takes place tomorrow (Saturday) of Mr. Thomas Clark, who died at his residence, 145 Cromwell Road Rushden, on Tuesday afternoon. His health had been failing since Christmas.

Mr. Clark was 87, and his widow is 91. He spent all his life in the shoe trade, for a long time with his father and later with Messrs. J. and C. Claridge. He did not retire until he was well past 70 years of age.

Besides the widow, a son Mr. Arthur Clark and a daughter Miss Violet Clark are left. Mr. and Mrs Clark celebrated their diamond wedding three years ago. By a strange coincidence, Mr. Charles Brown (Mr. Clark’s brother-in-law) died the same afternoon at Claygate, Surrey. He was about the same age as Mr. Clark.
