Mr. William Claridge

Former Rushden Sportsman

Mr. William Claridge who will be remembered by many Rushden people for his prowess in sport many years ago, died at Northampton on Monday at the age of 94.

A native of Rushden, Mr. Claridge played for the Town C.C. as a young man and was an excellent wicket-keeper and batsman. He also gained repute in football and hockey. For some years he represented Messrs. Fred Corby, Ltd., of Rushden, as a traveller.

Only last year Mr. Claridge was playing bowls with the Northampton County Ground Club. He was a Freemason, and being a widower resided with his daughter at 14, St. Michael's Avenue, Northampton.
