The death took place on Tuesday morning, June 20th, of Mrs Mary Matilda Chubb, of 17, Succoth-place, widow of the late Mr T C Chubb. Deceased, who was 63 years of age, had suffered for some time past with heart trouble, but in February last had a very bad attack of bronchitis and pleurisy, from which she never really recovered. Thinking a change might do her good she went on a visit to her eldest daughter, Mrs E J Whiteman, East End, Pavenham, formerly of Wymington, and was thought to be improving, but on Monday night was seized with a heart attack, and the end came in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Deceased leaves two daughters and two sons—Mrs E J Whiteman, Pavenham; Mr W A Chubb, Higham Ferrers; Mr Bert Chubb, Northampton, and Mrs C Miller, Rushden. The body was brought to Rushden on Thursday.

The funeral took place on Friday afternoon, the first portion of the obsequies taking place at St Mary’s Church, the Rector, Rev P E Robson, officiating. The mourners were Mr W A Chubb, Mrs E J Whiteman, son and daughter; Mr Bert Chubb and Mrs Cecil Miller, son and daughter; Mrs Tyler, Wellingborough, and Mrs C Nevitt, Wellingborough, sister and niece; Mrs Bott, Wellingborough, Mrs Sturgess, Little Irchester, sister-in-law and niece; Mrs Bert Chubb, Northampton, Mr E J Whiteman, Pavenham, daughter-in-law and son-in-law; Mrs W A Chubb, Higham Ferrers, Mr Cecil Miller, Rushden, daughter-in-law and son-in-law.

The coffin, of polished elm, bore the inscription:-

Died June 20th 1922
Aged 63.

The undertaker was Mr Page, of Pavenham, and the local funeral arrangements were carried out by Mr Arthur Sanders, Rushden.
