Rushden Echo, 17th June 1927, transcribed by Kay Collins
Mrs. Priscilla Chettle
Obituary – Passing Away of Respected Resident
A Ripe Old Age

An old and very-well-known Rushden family was bereaved by the death of Mrs. Priscilla Chettle, which occurred on Wednesday at 16 Milton-street, Higham Ferrers. The deceased lady was the widow of Mr. Jeremiah Chettle, a shoemaker, who died six years ago. A native of Yelden, Mrs. Chettle had lived for nearly 80 years at Rushden, first going to the village (as it was then) when she was eight years old. For the past two years she had lived at Higham, where she occupied rooms. While she resided at Rushden Mrs. Chettle was a member of the Park-road Baptist Church. She was taken seriously ill with a seizure three weeks ago and did not recover. There are left to mourn their loss two sons, Mr. Arthur Chettle and Mr. Ernest Chettle, both of whom reside at Rushden. The funeral took place this (Friday) afternoon, the Rev. J. A. Sutherland, of Rushden, officiating.
