Sgt. Patrick Buckley
Lost Life in R.A.F. Plane Crash

Among the crew of six killed when a Hastings transport aircraft crashed during take-off at Abingdon, near Oxford, on Monday, was 25-year-old Patrick Buckley, whose home is at 6 Kent Road, Upper Queen Street Estate, Rushden.

A sergeant in the R.A.F., he went into the Force from Kilshane College, County Tipperary, five years ago, as an engineer.

He has represented the R.A.F. as a boxer against the Army and Navy and became champion cruiserweight of Rhodesia for the second successive time last year. He has also played for the R.A.F. hockey team.

Sgt. Buckley made his home with his brother, James Buckley of Rushden, who is an ex-R.A.F. warrant officer.
