The funeral of the late Mr. H. Brown, who death was reported in our last issue, took place on Friday at the cemetery in the presence of many sympathisers. The obsequies were conducted by Pastor F. J. Harsant, of the Succoth Baptist Chapel. The coffin, which was of polished elm with brass fittings, bore the inscription: “Herbert Brown, died July 12th, 1915, aged 49 years.” The mourners comprised Mrs. H. Brown (widow), Mr. W. Brown (son), the Misses Ada, Nellie, Mabel, Hilda, and Maud Brown (daughters), Mrs. W. Brown (daughter-in-law), Mrs. W. Brown (mother), Messrs. Alfred, Joseph, Owen, Eber, and Enock Brown (brothers), Mrs. C. Church and Mrs. Mattock (sisters), Mrs. A. Brown, Mrs. O. Brown, and Mrs. E. Brown (sisters-in-law), Mr. W. Andrews (brother-in-law), Mr. F. Brown (nephew), Messrs. Parker and Lockwood (friends). Messrs. F. R. Eady and I. Twelvetree, representing Messrs. James Hyde, Ltd., also followed. The bearers were Messrs. A. Harris, J. Cross, W. Minney, R Freeman, W. Smith and C. Mackness, all of whom were deceased’s fellow workmen. A number of beautiful floral tributes to the memory of deceased were placed on the grave.
