Mr Herbert Brown

Rushden Echo Friday, July 16, 1915, transcribed by Sue Manton

Sudden Death—We sincerely regret to record the death which took place suddenly on Monday of Mr. Herbert Brown, of Montague Street. The deceased gentleman, who was 49 years of age was well known and highly respected in the town and district. He was a staunch Liberal in politics. For 12 years he had been manager of Messrs. James Hyde Ltd. He had been in failing health for some time past, and having been advised by his doctor to take a complete rest from his work, he went to Podington on Sunday last to visit his relatives. On Monday morning, whilst taking a walk he had a heart attack, and although expeditiously conveyed to the home of his relatives (Go-Wrong Cottages) he expired shortly afterwards. The late Mr. Brown, who was a native of Podington, had resided in Rushden for the past 30 years. He leaves a wife, one son and five daughters to mourn their loss. The funeral took place this (Friday) afternoon at the cemetery, Pastor F. J. Harsant of Succouth Baptist Chapel officiating.
