Mrs. Emily Bradfield

Obituary - The death of Mrs. Emily Bradfield, wife of Mr. Charles L. Bradfield, took place on Tuesday at “Elmham,” Newton-road, Rushden. Miss Hicks was born at Bootle, Liverpool, in 1852. She came into the district on account of having friends in the neighbourhood, and for a little time she lived at Irthlingborough. She secured a business appointment in Rushden. In 1878 she was married to the late Mr. Walter Sargent, shoe manufacturer, and of that marriage there were two children, Mr. William Edward Sargent, shoe manufacturer, and Mrs. L. M. Catlow, of St. Annes-on-Sea. Mr. Sargent died in 1896. In 1898 Mrs. Sargent and Mr. C. L. Bradfield were married. There are no children of this marriage. Mrs. Bradfield died, after a long illness extending over practically three years, during which time she had been under the care of Dr. Muriset, on Tuesday Dec 8th 1925. For many years she was connected with the Park-road Baptist Church and was a steady zealous worker for Dr. Barnado’s Homes, and for many years was a keen supporter of organisations in Rushden which work for those Homes. The funeral will take place tomorrow (Saturday) at 11a.m.
