The Death took place at Lincoln on Friday last of Mr. George Henry Birkbeck, formerly of Rushden. Deceased, who was 30 years of age, had suffered for the past five months from tubercular laryngitis. He married Miss Kempster, of Winchester-road, Rushden, and the widow and two little children are left to mourn their loss. Deceased, who served three-and-a-half years in the R.A.M.C. during the war, was the son of the late Mr. George W. Birkbeck, who was well known as a member of the Rifle Band, and of Mrs. Birkbeck, of the Almshouses, Wellingborough-road, Rushden. The body was brought from Lincoln to Rushden for the interment, which took place on Monday at the cemetery, the Rev. R. H. Hanson (Curate of the Parish Church) officiating. The mourners were: Mrs. Birkbeck (widow), Mrs. Birkbeck (mother), Mrs. Bates (sister), Mrs. Reynolds (mother-in-law), Mr. and Mrs. Dickerson (brother-in-law and sisters-in-law), and Miss Kempster (sister-in-law). Some lovely floral tributes were placed on the grave. |
