The Rushden Echo, 1st December 1916, transcribed by Gill Hollis
Mr. Alfred Bellamy

OBITUARY – We deeply regret to record the death, which occurred last night, of a well-known resident of Rushden in the person of Mr. Alfred Bellamy, of 5, York-road.  The deceased, who was 48 years of age, had had a long and painful illness, which he bore with remarkable fortitude.

He leaves a widow and one son to mourn their loss.  For very many years, until failing health prevented it, the late Mr. Bellamy took a keen and active interest in the Adult School movement and he was well-known as a speaker both at the Rushden school and at those in the surrounding district, being highly respected by the members.  The funeral will take place at Kettering on Monday afternoon, when the deceased will be laid to rest by the side of his brother, in accordance with his wish.

A touching tribute to Mr. Bellamy was paid on Sunday afternoon by the members of the Kettering and Rushden Adult School Male Choirs.  Following their musical service in the Park-road Wesleyan Church in the afternoon they went outside Mr. Bellamy’s residence and sang a number of selections, to the patient’s great delight.
