Mr. Alfred Barker

Fifty Years Teacher

The funeral of Mr. Alfred Barker, of 27, Prospect Ave, Rushden, took place on Saturday afternoon with a service at the Independent Wesleyan Church.

Mr. Barker, who was 82, had been a Sunday School teacher at the church for 50 years.

The Rev. J. Renison conducted the service and referred to Mr. Barker's long church service. Mr. S. Weekley, at the organ, accompanied the hymn "The Sands of Time" and played deceased's favourites, Handel's "Largo," and "Londonderry Air."

Mourners were Mr. and Mrs. Harold Barker and Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Barker (sons and daughters-in-law), Miss Joyce Barker and Mr. Brian Barker (grandchildren), Mr. Percy Whyant and Mr. L. Barker (nephews), Misses Lilian and Linda Upton, Mrs. F. A. Pack and Mrs. H. Leeson (friends).

Among other friends at the cemetery were Mr. and Mrs. H. Viccars.
