Rushden Echo and Argus, 29th October 1943
Mr. E. C. Bandey

Esteemed for the full part he had played in the religious, social and sporting life of the town, Mr. Ernest Collins Bandey, of 20 Brookfield-road, Rushden, passed away on Saturday at the age of 65 years. He had had a severe illness, extending over two years, and his condition had been critical during the three weeks.

One of the oldest members of the Wellingborough-road Mission Church, Mr. Bandey served faithfully in several branches of the work. He was secretary of the Sunday School for 38 years and of the Mission Cricket Club for 40 years, a church trustee, an enthusiastic Band of Hope leader and Christian Endeavourer.

In his younger days Mr Bandey took a popular part in many concerts, as a humorous entertainer. For some years he was amateur billiards champion of Rushden, and several years ago he helped to found Rushden and District Cricket League. He was also a trustee of the Wymington Independent Wesleyan Church.

On leaving the C.W.S. boot factory after many years’ employment there, Mr. Bandey opened a boot and shoe repairing business in Brookfield-road. His wife survives him, and there is no family.

The funeral took place on Wednesday afternoon, the service being conducted in the Wellingborough-road Mission Church by the Rev. E. E. Bromage.

A long list of mourners and their wreaths follows.
