Mrs. Mary Ann Ayres
Rushden Woman Dies


The funeral of an 89-years-old Rushden woman, who lost four sons in the 1914-1918 war and her husband in 1919, took place on Saturday. She was Mrs. Mary Ann Ayres, who lived with her sister-in-law, Miss Emily Garley, at 14, Harborough Road.

Widow of Mr. Joseph Ayres, she was a native and life-long resident of the town. She passed away at home on January 7th after a month’s illness.

The funeral service was conducted at the cemetery chapel by the Rector (the Rev. E. A. Green), and mourners were: Mr. Agnew Ayres (son), Mrs. M. Knibbs and Mrs. E. Page (daughters), Mr. Arthur Ayres (son), Mrs. M. Ayres (daughter-in-law), Mr. G. Page (son-in-law), Mrs. H. Ayres (daughter-in-law), Miss R. Ayres (grand-daughter), Mr. H. Parker (brother), and Mrs. A. Stocker (sister).
