The Death of Mr. Robert William Austin, of 138 Cromwell-road, took place in the Middlesex Hospital on Tuesday night last. Deceased, who was 56 years of age, leaves a widow, four sons (including Ptes. W. and S. Austin), and six daughters. He had suffered for the last three months from cancer in the jaw. Nothing could be done for him at Northampton Hospital, but subsequently, through the good offices of Mr. G. Denton, by whom he was employed, he was removed to the Middlesex Hospital. He underwent an operation comfortably, but then had a relapse, and influenza developed, with fatal results. On Tuesday Mrs. Austin had a telegram to say that her husband was in a critical condition, and she went at once to see him. After she had returned he became worse, and died during the night. Deceased was much respected by his shopmates and those with whom he was brought into contact. |
