Death of Mrs. W. Ambridge

Much sympathy will be felt for Mr. William Ambridge, of Grove-road, for many years a local preacher in the Wellingborough Primitive Methodist circuit and the senior superintendent of the Rushden Primitive Methodist Sunday school, on the death of his wife, who passed away on Tuesday at 1.30 a.m. Deceased who was 73 years of age, had been ill for the past three years, suffering from complications, including heart trouble. Mr. and Mrs. Ambridge were married at Newton Bromshold Parish Church 53 years ago. Mrs. Ambridge (nee Miss Maria Smith) was a native of Sharnbrook, and Mr. Ambridge was born at Newton Bromshold. Mrs. Ambridge had been, for the past 40 years or more, a member of the Park-road Baptist Church at Rushden, she and her husband being baptised there at the same time. Deceased leaves, beside her husband two sons – Corpl. George Ambridge (Rushden Ambulance Division) now stationed at Gosport, and Mr. Albert Ambridge, of Wellingborough. One son (Mr. Fred Ambridge) died some years ago. The funeral of Mrs. Ambridge took place this (Friday) afternoon, at the Rushden Cemetery. The mourners were: Mr. W. Ambridge (husband), Corpl. and Mrs. G. Ambridge and Mr. and Mrs. A. Ambridge (sons and daughters-in-law), Mrs. Fred Ambridge (daughter-in-law), seven grandchildren, Mr. and Mrs. Eli Smith, of Sharnbrook (brother and sister-in-law), Mr. Samuel Smith, of Bedford (brother), Mrs. Clayton (niece), and other relatives. Mr. Ambridge wishes to thank the many friends for their kindness and sympathy towards him in his bereavement.
