Death of Mrs Asher Abbott
A Rushden Family Bereaved – the Funeral


The death occurred on Saturday at her home in High-street South, Rushden, of Mrs. Rebecca Abbott, aged 73, widow of the late Mr. Asher Abbott, who died about 15 months ago. Mrs. Abbott had been ailing some time but had not laid up until the last two weeks of her life, when she suffered a seizure. Mrs. Abbott, formerly a Miss Willis, was born in Rushden. She was a member of the Baptist Church practically all he life. She attended the church as recently as before the snow-storms of a few weeks ago. There are left three sons, Messrs. Frank, William, and Cyril Abbott, and one daughter, Mrs. Wilmott.

The funeral took place on Thursday, the Rev. J. A. Sutherland (Baptist) officiating. A service was held at the house, and the interment followed at the cemetery. The mourners were Mrs. Wilmott (daughter), Mr. F. Abbott (son), Mr. and Mrs. W. Abbott (son and daughter-in-law), Mr. C. Abbott (son), Mrs. Jones, of Kettering (daughter-in-law, representing Mrs. Bollard, sister of the deceased, of Leicester, who was unable to attend through ill-health), Mr. J. Wilmott (son-in-law), Mrs. Thompson, of Irthlingborough (sister-in-law), Mrs. Scroxton, Mrs. Freeman (nieces), Mr. L. Wilmott, Mr. A. Jaques (nephews), Miss H. Chettle, and Mrs. Eales of Wellingborough (friends).
