Rushden Echo, 26th December 1919, transcribed by Kay Collins
Sudden Death at Rushden
A man named Abbott, formerly of Rushden and latterly of Wellingborough, aged about 70, an employee of the Summit Boot Works, had to leave off work on Monday afternoon feeling unwell.
On his way to the Station he became worse, and called at the house of a friend, Mrs Draper, in Orchard-place, for a rest. He was given some refreshment as be appeared in a state of collapse, but he became unconscious, and help was at once procured from the C.W.S. factory.
The doctor was called but could only pronounce life extinct. The Police were informed, and the body was removed to the deceased's daughter, Mrs Sprake, of Cromwell-road, Rushden.
