Mrs Sarah Woollard

The death took place on Saturday at Wymington, of Mrs Sarah Woollard, aged 84, following a long period of physical disability. A daughter of the late Mr and Mrs George Daychurch, and born at Wymington, the deceased had spent most of her life in the village. She had been caretaker of Rushden House for a number of years. Mrs Woollard had been a devoted member of Wymington Church but had been unable to attend services there latterly. Her husband, Mr William Woollard, died in May 1918. There are left to mourn their loss, two sons, Mr G. Woollard, head gardener at the Rushden House Sanatorium, and Mr Fred Woollard, for many years of Icklingham, Suffolk, where he was an organist, and now of Mildenhall, Suffolk, and one grandchild, son of Mr and Mrs G. Woollard. The funeral took place on Wednesday, the Rev C. L. Drew, Rector, officiating in the Church and at the grave side. In the Church, Mr J. Smith, at the organ, played “Blest are the Departed” (Spohr’s “Last Judgment.”) The hymn “When our heads are bowed with woe” was sung and, as the cortège left the Church, Mr Smith played “O Rest in the Lord.”

The family mourners were:
Mr F. and Mr G. Woollard (sons)
Mrs G. Woollard (daughter-in-law)
Mr E. Woollard (grandson)
Mrs L. Clayton, Mrs Fisher, Mrs Mason (cousins)
Mrs Stratton, Mrs J. Windsor, Mrs Hadley, Mrs Lewis and Mrs H. Windsor (friends).
