Mr. George Arthur Simmons - Died at his Work

At work as a sorter in the clicking department of Messrs. C. W. Horrell’s Rushden boot factory, 58 years old Mr. George Arthur Simmons collapsed and died before any of his colleagues could reach him, only a few minutes after starting his day’s work.

First on the scene was Mr. C. C. Woods, the town’s Ambulance Transport Officer, who summoned Dr. McKendrick.

Mr. Simmons was afterwards taken to his home at “Merlyn”, St. Crispin’s Estate. He leaves a widow.

For several years he had been an active member of St. Peter’s Church, a chorister and secretary to the Adult Fellowship.

The Vicar (the Rev. R. McPherson Heard), who conducted the service at the church prior to cremation at Kettering, spoke of Mr. Simmons’ good work for the church.
