Mrs. Harry Sharpe Passes Away


Sad Death at Rushden

  The death took place on Saturday morning last at ten o’clock of Mrs. Sharpe, wife of Mr. Harry Sharpe, of York-road, Rushden, and youngest daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Packwood, of Rushden.  Death resulted from pneumonia.  The deceased, who was 40 years of age, had been ill for ten days and was attended by Dr. Owen.  She was conscious to the last.  Besides the widower there are eight children – five boys and three girls, the youngest (a baby boy) being only eight months old.

  The deceased was the plaintiff in a recent case, Emma Sharpe v. Matthew Bates, of Rushden, which was heard at the Northampton County Court and attracted a great deal of attention.  Mrs. Sharpe obtained judgment, securing the return of furniture alleged to have been seized wrongfully, besides damages for trespass.  Mr. Bates has taken the case to a higher Court.

  The funeral of the deceased took place on Wednesday at the Rushden cemetery.  Arch-deacon Kitchin officiating.  Messrs. Walker and Butcher were the undertakers.

  Several beautiful wreaths were laid on the coffin.
