Tributes to ex-teacher
TRIBUTES have poured in following the death, of retired schoolteacher Alexander Rollings.

Mr Rollings, 63, a bachelor, of Little Street, Rushden, retired five years ago as English teacher at Wollaston School.

He was also chairman of the governors at Rushden South End Infant School.

A friend, Dr Paul Wix said: "He had a wide spectrum of interests from the theatre, archaeology, art, stone carving and photography.

"His death comes as a personal loss and also as a loss of a vast talent expressed in classical knowledge of literature and the arts."

Wollaston school head John Houlford said: "He was heavily involved in the life of the school as well as teaching English and drama.

"He took part in extra-curricula activities and fully supported a large number of parent teacher association activities."

A funeral service will be held at Rushden Cemetery Chapel on Thursday, June 6 at 12.30pm followed by interment.

Donations in his memory may be made to the Artists General Benevolent Institute, care of funeral directors Abbott and Sons, Bedford Road, Rushden.
