Mrs Lois Linnitt, a lady who had spent a greater part of her life in Rushden, where she was a respected church and Temperance worker, passed away on Monday at 119, Cedar-road East, Northampton, the residence of her daughter, Mrs E Morris.
Aged 83 years, Mrs Linnitt was the widow of Mr Alfred Linnitt, whom Rushden remembers well as a sportsman, and whose death occurred some eight years ago. She was a native of Riseley but moved to Rushden as a girl and lived there until about 14 years ago, being connected with the Park-road Baptist Church and the B.W.T.A. Her death followed a short illness.
There are three sons and five daughters - Mr Fred Linnitt, Mr Walter Linnitt (Vancouver), Mr Horace Linnitt (Northampton), Mrs E Ingram (Rushden), Mrs R E Bayes (Boston, USA), Mrs G Foster (Winnipeg), Mrs E Morris (Northampton), and Mrs C Berridge (Maltby, Yorks).
The funeral took place at Rushden on Thursday afternoon, when the Rev. T W Gill conducted a service at the Park-road Baptist Church. The mourners were Mr Horace Linnitt (son), Mrs E Ingram (daughter), Mrs B Morris (daughter), Mr E Morris (son-in-law), Mr H V Ingram (grandson), Mr J Morris (grandson), Mrs G Coleman (granddaughter), Mr H Smith (brother), Mrs H Linnitt (granddaughter), Mrs Fred Linnitt (daughter-in-law), Mrs Horace Linnitt (daughter-in-law), Mrs E Sale, Mrs E Gomm, Mrs F Mitchell, Mrs S J Partridge and Mrs F Mason (nieces), Mrs W Linnitt (granddaughter) and Mrs A Harlow, Northampton (friend). Mr Hedley Linnitt (grandson) and Mrs C Berridge (daughter) were unable to attend.
