Rushden Echo, 1st January 1915, transcribed by Kay Collins
Mr George Leeding

Obituary—An octogenarian passed away suddenly on Friday last in the person of Mr George Leeding. He had, we understand, been visiting his son, and had proceeded from thence to the residence, in Midland-road, of his step-daughter, Mrs Berry. Whilst there he had a seizure and expired almost immediately. He had been suffering from bronchitis, and the effect of the disease on a weak heart probably caused his death. As he had been attended by a doctor an inquest was not considered necessary. The deceased gentleman, who was 81 years of age, leaves a widow and three sons to mourn their loss. He was well-known and greatly respected in the town, and for many years was intimately associated with the independent Wesleyan Church of which place of worship he was a member. The funeral took place on Wednesday in the cemetery, the first portion of the obsequies being conducted in the Independent Wesleyan Church by the Rev C J Keeler, who also officiated at the grave side. The coffin bore the inscription:-

George Leeding
Died Jan 1st 1915
Aged 81 years.

The mourners were: Mrs Leeding (widow), Mr and Mrs Thomas Leeding (son and daughter-in-law), Mr and Mrs Sanders Leeding (son and daughter-in-law), Mr and Mrs George Leeding, (son and daughter-in-law), Francis, Herbert, Rennie, Oscar, Albert, Edgar, and Harold (grandchildren), Mr and Mrs George Berry, Mrs Faulkner and Mrs Ladds. Many beautiful floral tributes were placed on the grave.
