Mrs Jane Garrod

The funeral took place at Rushden on Saturday of the late Mrs Jane Garrod, aged 89 years, of 34, Wellingborough-road, Rushden. She passed away on Wednesday week. A native of Wellingborough, she had lived in Rushden for 52 years. Five sons and one daughter are bereaved. The funeral service was conducted by the Rev T S Stoney, Rector of St Mary’s.

The mourners were Mrs A Waller and Mr F Garrod (daughter and son), Mr L Garrod and Mr H Garrod (sons), Mr A Garrod and Mrs E Acksby (son and sister), Mr A Waller and Mrs Ellen Mitchell (son-in-law and sister), Mrs L Garrod (daughter-in-law), and Mrs H Garrod (daughter-in-law), Mrs A Garrod and Mrs Sinfield (daughter-in-law and friend).

The wreaths were from: Mr and Mrs Albert Waller, Horace and Doris; Mr and Mrs Fred Garrod (Sheerness); Mr and Mrs Arthur Garrod (Wellingborough); Mr and Mrs Len Garrod; Dora and Marjorie; Mr and Mrs Horace Garrod and family; Mr and Mrs Albert Garrod and family (Northampton); Mr and Mrs Sidney Maddock (London); Mr and Mrs Ernest Gadsby (Sheffield); Mrs Acksby and Mrs Mitchell:

“The book is closed,
The journey’s done,
It ended—as it had begun,
Noble, self-sacrificing, and life divine.

Dear Mother o’ mine.”
