Ann Finding
A Rushden Woman’s Sad End - Scalded to Death

A Rushden woman named Ann Finding, who had been an inmate of Wellingborough Workhouse for some years, died in that institution on Monday from the effects of an accident. The woman was 86 years of age, and, being very feeble, was an inmate of the infirmary. On September 26th her breakfast was taken to her as she lay in bed, and by some means she upset her tea with the result that her leg was scalded. The shock was apparently too much for her in her enfeebled state, and though every attention was paid her by Dr. Hollis, the medical officer to the institution, and by the nursing staff she passed away on Monday.

The Inquest

was held on Tuesday at the Workhouse before Mr. J. T. Parker, coroner.

Verdict, “Accidental death from scalds.”
