The Late Mrs. Denton
Impressive Funeral at Rushden

Leading Rushden Families Bereaved


Several of the leading families at Rushden have been thrown into mourning by the death of Mrs. Susannah Denton, of Newton-road, and there was a large attendance at the funeral, which took place at the Rushden Cemetery on Saturday afternoon. The Rev. C. J. Keeler officiated.

The principal mourners were – Mrs. George Denton, of “Eastfields” (daughter), Mrs. Ette (daughter), Mr. W. Denton (son), Mr. George Denton, Mr. Ette, and Mrs W. Denton (sons-in-law and daughters-in-law), Mrs. Smith and Mrs.Hardwick (sisters, Northampton), Mr. and Mrs. George Denton, jun., Mr. and Mrs. Bert Ette, Mr. Reg Denton, Mr. T. Denton, Miss Alice Denton, Miss Kate Denton, Mr. Ernest Denton, Miss Mabel Denton, Misses Ada and Maud Ette (grandchildren), and Mr. Carter (executor, Wellingborough).

Mrs. Horace Brawn, Mrs. C. G. Cunnington, Miss Hilda Brawn, Messrs. J. Mackness, E. Wrighton, F. Wooding, G. Bull, and J. Baines, were among those present at the interment.

The coffin was of polished elm, with brass fittings, and on the breastplate was the inscription :-

SUSANNAH DENTON
Died May 5th, 1910
Aged 79 years.

The wreaths bore the following inscriptions:-

With deep sympathy from her affectionate sisters, Carrie and Mary.

In loving remembrance of dear grandmother, from all at Eastfields.

In ever-loving memory of dear mother and grandmother, from Mr. and Mrs. J. Ette and family – “Peace, perfect peace.”

With deepest sorrow from Mr. and Mrs. Walter Denton and family.

In loving memory from Mr. and Mrs. B. Ette.

From Mrs. Denton, jun.

In loving memory of dear granny from her grand-daughter, Ada.

To a dear old friend, from Mrs. foreman and Mrs. J. Surridge.

In loving remembrance of a dear friend, from Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Lawson.

A token of sympathy from Mr. and Mrs. Barnes, Higham Ferrers.

With deep sympathy from F. Wooding.

Messrs. Whittington and Tomlin were the undertakers. The funeral was of an impressive character.
