Josiah Bailey

DEATH OF AN OLD SOLDIER—This week we have to record the death of Josiah Bailey, pensioner, of High-street. Deceased was well-known in Rushden as one of her Majesty's subjects who lost his left arm in the relief of Lucknow under Sir Colin Campbell. Deceased, who served in the 90th lnfantry Regiment, was presented with a medal and clasp for the severe action in which he was engaged at the taking of Sebastapol (1854), also a medal for general service in the Crimea (1855), and a very beautiful medal and clasp for active service at the relief of Lucknow, where he had the misfortune to lose his arm. He died at the early age of 48, and was buried on Tuesday by the Rev. T. Richards.
