Miller – Cox

St. Mary’s Church, Rushden, was on Thursday,. September 28th, the scene of the wedding of Miss Jacqueline Cook and M/Sergt. Clair F. Miller, of the U.S.A.A.F.

The bride, who has been a member of the Girls’ Training Corps, is the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Cook, of 80 Newton-road, Rushden. The groom is the only son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Miller, of Pasadena, California, U.S.A.

Attired in a white slipper satin gown in Elizabethan style with a tulle veil held in place by a pearl coronet, and with pearls as her jewellery, the bride was given away by he father. Her bouquet was of dark red rosebuds and white heather.

Miss Enid Kathleen Robinson (friend) and Miss Joan May (cousin) were in attendance as bridesmaids and both wore blue moiré taffeta dresses, trimmed with pink, and pink headdresses, together with silver necklaces (gifts from the bridegroom). Their bouquets were of cream roses and white heather.

The best man was Sergt. Harold Hueg, U.S.A.A.F. and the Rector (Rev. E. A. Green) conducted the ceremony.

Mr. Harris was the organist and accompanied the hymns, “How Welcome was the Call” and “O Perfect Love.” Pink carnations formed the decoration of the church.

A reception was held in the B.W.T.A.U. Hall, and gifts received included a silver toast rack from Lloyds Bank (where the bride is employed) and a cheque from the bridegroom’s Company.

The honeymoon was spent in Arbroath, in Scotland, and the bride’s travelling attire was a fawn check costume with brown accessories. The couple will make their home at 80 Newton-road, for the duration of the war.
