Party fun for old soldier
SPRIGHTLY Christopher Magee is marking his 100th birthday with four parties.
The Rushden man has already celebrated his centenary at Rushden Medical Centre, the town's Windmill Club and former workplace Greens, now called Grensons.

Tomorrow the old soldier will have another party at the Rilton Hotel in Rushden. Friends and family arranged the parties at the Windmill Club and Rilton while doctors and staff at the medical centre invited him to a celebration, pictured left, as he has been a patient there for more than 70 years.
Bosses at Grensons wanted their former worker to have a look around its headquarters in Portland Road, Rushden, to see how it has changed.
Mr Magee, who has three children, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, is one of the few remaining survivors of the First World War.
He joined the Bedfordshire Regiment in 1909, fought in the 1914-18 war and stood guard at the Tower of London, Buckingham Palace and St James Palace. He also remembers the last years of Queen Victoria's reign.
He has lived at Irchester Road since the house was built in 1938 and was married to Ivy, who died in 1980.
He said: "So much has changed over the years it's hard to believe it all. I cannot pin down why or how I've reached 100 but I can say if drinking kills you I'd have been dead 50 years ago."
