Mr. Percy Edward Lloyd, of Kettering, and, Miss Florence Sharwood,
married at Park-road Baptist Church. [published 20th March]

Considerable interest was centred in the wedding, which took place at the Rushden Park-road Baptist Church, yesterday of Miss Florence Ann Sharwood, youngest daughter of Mr. Frank J. Sharwood, C.C., of Farningham House, Rushden, and Mr. Percy Edward Lloyd, of Kettering, son of the late Mr. John Lloyd, of Welshpool, Montgomeryshire, and of Mrs. Lewis of Aberystwyth.
The bride has been, for many years, a member of the Rushden Ladies’ Hockey Club, while the bridegroom holds the position of manager of the Market-street Store, Kettering, of Messrs. Wm.Timpson, Ltd. He is also the inspector in the eastern area for that concern, and takes an active interest in the Kettering Chamber of Commerce.
The Rev. T. W. Gill and the Rev. James A. Sutherland, of Luton, officiated, and Mr. J. Lindsay Clipson A.R.C.O., was at the organ and accompanied the singing of the hymns “O Perfect Love”, and “O Happy Home”. During the signing of the register Mrs. Gill sand the 23rd. Psalm.
Given away by her father, the bride was becomingly attired in a Grecian gown of parchment chiffon velvet, with a bridal veil to match, held in place by a single row of pearls. She carried a bouquet of cream roses.
Two bridesmaids were in attendance: Miss Evelyn Corby (cousin of the bride), and Miss Hylda Gates, A.L.C.M., who is a friend of the bride. Both were charmingly attired in dresses of rust coloured chiffon velvet with skull caps to match and bronze shoes and stockings. They wore necklaces of parchment pearls (gifts of the bridegroom), and carried bouquets of daffodils.
Mrs. Sharwood wore a navy tailored coat frock and hat to match, carrying a bouquet of anemonies (the gift of the bridegroom), while Miss Lloyd (sister of the bridegroom) was attired in a blue frock of a new shade of blue and a marmot fur coat.
Mr. J. Leyland, of Boughton (friend of the bridegroom) carried out the duties of best man.
Afterwards the reception was held at the Masonic Hall where about 70 guests assembled. Later the happy couple left for London and Bournemouth, where the honeymoon is being spent, the bride travelling in a navy blue coat and scarf and hat to match, and a fur stole (the gift of the bridegroom).
Among the many handsome presents was a set of fish eaters and servers from the directors of Messrs Wm. Timpson, Ltd., a silver coffee pot from the Staff of the Rushden branch; a lustre bowl from High-street Branch Store, Kettering, a barometer from the Market-street Branch Store, Kettering and presents from the firm’s branches at Wellingborough, Loughborough, Spalding, Great Yarmouth, Lowestoft and Rugby.
A presentation of household linen was also made by Rushden Ladies’ Hockey Club.
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd will reside at “Hawthorns”, Kettering.
