Fifty Years ago Mr. and Mrs. Lingard, of Thornton-street, North Ormesby, were married at Louth, in Lincolnshire, and they have celebrated their golden wedding this week. They have had seven children, of whom four survive, whilst there are seven grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Mrs. Lingard was the daughter of Matthew Laking, of [Putney], in his time the oldest bellringer in England. He rang for the death of George III, and for every special occasion during the reign of Queen Victoria. He died at the age of 99. Mr. and Mrs. Lingard have been to Rushden on different occasions and two of their sons have lived at Rushden for a number of years. At the golden wedding there was a good muster of friends, including Mr. and Mrs. Beer, of Middlesbrough, late of Rushden, Mr. and Mrs. Greaves and daughter, of Manton-road, Rushden, and Mr. and Mrs. C. Lingard and Mrs. M. Lingard, of Grove-road, Rushden.

Mr. and Mrs. Lingard, senr., were the recipients of many messages of congratulations and presents. The festivities were kept up till 3.30, and were concluded by the singing of Auld Lang Syne.
