Yesterday (Thursday) was solemnised the marriage at Knotting parish church, near Rushden, of Mr William George Leeding, eldest son of Mr Thomas Leeding, of Essex-road, Rushden, to Miss Emma Watford, only daughter of the late Mr William Watford, of Knotting. Mr James Sargent conveyed the Rushden friends in a brake, the bridegroom and his immediate friends proceeding in a carriage drawn by a pair of greys. The Vicar of Souldrop (Mr Girling) was the officiating clergyman. There were two bridesmaids—Miss Clara Leeding (sister of the bridegroom) and Miss Cox, of London. The bride, who was given away by her brother (Mr J Watford), wore her travelling dress, a pretty grey cloth costume, with hat to match: while Miss Clara Leeding was daintily attired in a pink silk bodice and green cloth skirt, with hat to match. Mr Jim Whiting, of Rushden, was the best man. The bride carried a handsome bouquet, and the bridesmaids wore sprays, the gift of the bridegroom, the flowers being supplied by Messrs Seckington and Son.
The ceremony was attended by a large number of people from Rushden and Knotting. At the conclusion of the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride’s mother. Amid hearty good wishes of their friends, signalized by showers of confetti, the newly married pair were driven to Higham Ferrers L and N W station en route for Woodstone, near Peterborough, where they will reside.
