| The marriage took place yesterday at the Park-road Baptist Church, Rushden, the Rev. R. C. Law officiating, of Mr. William Reginald Knight, only son of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Knight, of 88 Harborough-road, Rushden, to Miss Beatrice Evelyn Wilsher, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Wilsher, of Bedford. The bride, who was given away by Mr. Herbert Clayton (uncle of the bridegroom), was neatly gowned in white silk with bridal veil and wreath of orange blossom. She carried a choice bouquet of pink and white roses, the gift of the bridegroom. There were four bridesmaids, viz., the Misses Violet Copson and Hilda Woolley (friends of the bride), and the little Misses Winfred Gell and Mabel Ellen Gell (nieces of the bridegroom). The elder bridesmaids were tastefully attired in biscuit coloured shantung with hats to match, and the little girls wore pretty dresses of white silk with pink satin straw hats. The Misses Copson and Woolley carried bouquets of pink and white roses and wore gold brooches (the gifts of the bridegroom, and the Misses Gell carried baskets of pink roses, also the gifts of the bridegroom. The duties of best man were ably discharged by Mr. F. Rawlins (friend of the bridegroom). After the ceremony a reception was held in the Choir Vestry of the Park-road Baptist Church. Mr. and Mrs. Knight were the recipients of many handsome and useful presents, including a set of carvers and silver bread knife from the clerks in the office at the C.W.S. Boot Works, Rushden, where the bridegroom was employed and two pairs of lace curtains from Mr. Bernstein, by whom the bride is employed. The bridegroom was discharged from the Colours about twelve months ago, after having received severe wounds in the service of his country. He served on the Western front for about six months, being wounded at the battle of the Somme in July 1916. |
