Members of the Independent Wesleyan Choir (of which the bridegroom is treasurer) and the Rushden Holmfield Tennis Club were married on Saturday in the persons of Mr Dennis A Knight, eldest son of Mr and Mrs E Knight, of 12 York road, Rushden, and Miss Grace Desborough, only daughter of Mr and Mrs J E Desborough, Station road, Rushden.
The bride has been employed by Messrs H T Mackness, and the bridegroom is on the staff of Messrs B Denton and Son, Ltd.
The Independent Wesleyan Church, where the ceremony took place conducted by the Rev C J Keeler, was decorated with Madonna lilies and white chrysanthemums.
Mr Sydney Weekley ATCL, the organist, played “The Voice that Breathed O’er Eden” and “O Perfect Love”

Given away by her father, the bride wore a gown of dull white satin, with sleeves to match, and a wreath and veil, the veil having been lent by a friend. Her bouquet was of flame coloured rose buds and white heather, and she wore a pearl necklace.
There were two bridesmaids, Miss Lilian M Knight, of Rushden (sister of the bridegroom) and Miss Evelyn A Brookes of Mexborough (cousin of the bridegroom). They were attired in flame coloured taffeta dresses, with brown hats, gloves and shoes. They carried handbags and wore bronze pearl necklaces (gifts of the bridegroom). Their bouquets were of bronze chrysanthemums.
The bridegroom’s brother, Mr Eric W Knight of Rushden, was the best man.
The reception was held in the Queen Street schools, and afterwards the newly married couple left to spend their honeymoon at Hastings, the bride travelling in a mulberry coat, lavishly trimmed with musquash fur. Her dress and hat were to tone.
Messrs H Scroxton and Sons supplied the cars. The wedding cake was made by the bridegroom’s mother.
Among the gifts received was a cheque from the firm of Messrs H T Mackness and a frameless mirror from the employees, a Lloyd Loom chair from the staff of Messrs B Denton and Son, Ltd. A coal cauldron and companion set from the employees of the clicking department, a dinner service from the Independent Wesleyan Church choir, and a tablecloth from the Holmfield Tennis Club.
Mr and Mrs Knight are to live in St Mary’s-avenue, Rushden
