A pretty wedding was celebrated on Tuesday at St. Mary’s Parish Church when the rector, the Rev. P. Robson, officiated, the contracting parties being Miss Ida Ainge, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Ainge, of Newton Road and Mr. George Steven Holliday, of the Northants Yeomanry and of Oswald Road. The bridegroom was mobilised in August 1914 and has since been on active service in France and Italy. The bridesmaids were Misses Elsie Holliday (sister of the bridegroom) Evelyn Endersby (friend of the bride) Evelyn Holliday (sister of the bridegroom) and Miss Rice (friend of the bride). Mr. Archie Smith was best man and the bride was given away by her father, being prettily attired in a dress of cream Italian silk, with georgette sleeves and a bridal fall lent by a friend. She carried a charming bouquet of white lilies and narcissi (the gift of the bridegroom) and Miss Elsie Holliday and Miss Endersby were dressed in white silk voile. Miss Evelyn Holliday and Miss Rice wore dresses of velvet with hats to match. All the bridesmaids wore gold brooches (gifts of the bridegroom). A reception and social was afterwards held in Newton Road Council School, the newly married couple receiving some handsome presents.
