Miss Eveline Harlow

The Rushden Echo Friday 27th July 1917, transcribed by Kay Collins

Rushden Vocalist’s Success - Miss E Harlow to Visit France

Miss Eveline Harlow (soprano), of Rushden, has, through the instrumentality of her singing master (Mr. Bernard Tomkins) obtained an introduction to Miss Lena Ashwell, the celebrated actress, who, as is well known, is organising concerts for the troops in France. Yesterday Miss Harlow was granted an interview by Miss Ashwell, who heard her sing in Wigmore Hall, Great Wigmore-street, W.

Miss Harlow was personally congratulated by Miss Ashwell’s secretary (Miss Dundas), who informed her that Miss Ashwell was completely satisfied with her capabilities as a vocalist, and that the date of her visit to France would be notified to her in due course. Miss Harlow was also asked whether she would be prepared to accept engagements for camp concerts which Miss Ashwell is now organising in England.
